"Rules" for not looking like a fool, clothing wise...

"A man should look as if he had bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgotten all about them." - Hardy Amies I've always liked that quote.

Feeling depressed I need some real help HB.

[Quote]DM always has wisdom to share. The only thing I will say about this advice above is just avoid any type of illegal activity altogether. Whether or not you get into trouble, it is certain to add stress to your life. Right now, everything you do should ideally reduce your stress on a daily basis.  There are things in life that you can control and things that you cannot. One of my coaches always said: if you work hard and do the right things with the variables you can control, the results will eventually take care of themselves. Here are a few variables you can control: Time: Each of has has 24 hours to spend in a day and how you spend that time is up to you. Make the most of your time. When you're in class, pay attention and do the work. You're there anyway so why not get the most from each class period. Your grades will improve and if you can get some homework done in class, you will have less to worry about after school. I can tell you from experience, it is far more stressful to fall behind in school (skip class, miss deadlines, etc) than it is to become an efficient and productive student. Spend your leisure time well. Surround yourself with positive ambitious people who inspire and motivate you to become better. Engage with your interests and learn new things. Read interesting books and listen to good music. Encourage your mom to do the same. Lastly, even on busy days, remember to get enough sleep. Exercise: Working out will make you look and feel better and it is a great way to work through frustration. Regardless of whether or not you have access to a gym, go running, cycling, swimming, skating, or whatever else you enjoy as often as you can. Mix in pull-ups, push-ups, and core work. Spend time outdoors. Focus on your breath. You will find your self esteem improves with your progress. Nutrition: Eat as well as you possibly can everyday and learn to cook if you haven't already. Healthy foods will improve your mental and physical state. Cooking might be an activity you can do with your mom and I am sure your mom and grandparents would appreciate it if you cooked them a meal occasionally. Even if you are on a tight budget, you can do this. Stop drinking soda and drink more water. If you are careful with your food budget, you will find that you can eat well for less money than you might imagine (water, fruit, vegetables, rice, noodles, tuna, peanut butter, jam, whole wheat bread, etc). (Exercise and nutrition work together. Your body is an engine - it burns air and fuel. Air is your breath and fuel is the food you eat. Keep your engine running well and burning clean fuel.) Organization: Take time to outline what is going on in your life. Figure out what you can control and what you cannot. You might find that once your thoughts are organized on paper, they don't seem as overwhelming. Set both long and short term goals. Organize your space, your time, and your thoughts. Become as efficient as you can and understand exactly what you can and should do to move towards a better life. Focus on these goals: reducing stress, maximizing efficiency, becoming (and staying) organized, and improving yourself everyday.  There are no quick fixes for difficult situations like this. Creating a life filled with meaning and value takes time - but you have time to put in. Everyone does.

HB, come in and criticize my first vid

[Quote]I found the audio and video to be a bit disjointed as well, not a lot - probably just a fraction of a second, but enough to be distracting. Other than that though, I think there is a simplicity and honesty that comes with a video like this. I really like the relaxed sound you have and I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Bettering yourself vol. Things to work on

Recently I've been working on: 1. Paying closer attention to who I spend time with and looking for people who are interesting and worth being around. 2. Staying in contact with friends who live far away. 3. Engaging with my interests more and learning as much about them as I can. 4. Refining and simplifying all aspects of my life.

Bahamas (Brushfire Records)

Jack Johnson is touring right now and Bahamas opened his show in Minneapolis last week. The concert was excellent and I think a few of you might enjoy their music (Bahamas is technically just Afie Jurvanen but he had a few other people with him on stage when he played - a drummer and two more singers). WDYDT: What Did You Do Today?

I picked up Taco Bell for lunch (Cheesy Gordita Crunches & 1/2 Baja Blast 1/2 regular Mountain Dew) and paid for the car behind me. There is enough stress on the world right now so it's nice to brighten other people's days when the opportunities arise no matter how small the gestures may be.

Kanye forgets New Day lyrics - WTT

I would rather see this happen and know that it's really live than have the verse playing in the background so the show goes "perfectly." I've only seen Kanye once (the Glow In The Dark tour from a few years ago) and it was one of the most elaborate and spectacular shows I have ever attended. The stage set was ridiculous and Kanye went through what seemed like his whole catalogue with the entire building singing along for hours and hours. It was true entertainment on every level.

How do you guys clean your kicks?

[Quote]Nope I just put them right in the washing machine (by themselves) and they came out fine.

Cleaning: Rubber: Mr. Clean Magic Erasers Suede & Leather: Jason Markk and warm water with some sort of medium or soft bristle brush Roshes: Washing Machine  Drying: I never put anything in the dryer. Just use a towel to wipe the shoes down after they are clean and let them air dry.
