Hypegolf Invitational returned to Japan with a highly-curated golf tournament experience to usher in a new era of the sport

With its inaugural last year, Hypegolf Invitational returned to Japan on August 8 with a golf tournament re-imagined through a modern and cultural lens. Held in the prestigious Eagle Point Golf Club, Ibaraki Prefecture, the event combined the sport with contemporary style, music, art, culinary offerings and experiential activations. From casual players to artists, influencers and professionals, the Hypegolf Invitational saw an attendance of approximately 100 participants across all levels of golf experience to embrace a forward-thinking interpretation of the golf culture.

Hypegolf Invitational in Japan remixed the traditional country club environment with music, entertainment and experiential activations in collaboration with influential brands. Hitting off the game is a TaylorMade driving range, and players practised putting with equipment provided by PING. At hole 1 was a Ralph Lauren café that served players with a classic cup of quality coffee. A giant G-SHOCK watch monument situated at hole 9 offered a friendly tournament of bunker shot challenge; the best player was awarded with its iconic watch engraved with the Hypegolf logo. Guests may take a short break at the Porsche Japan exhibition at hole 10 to experience up close three electric performance vehicles, Taycan Turbo, Macan GTS and Cayenne Turbo GT. To enhance the pace of the game, ZOZO, New Balance and BEAMS brought the “Closest to the Pin” competition at different locations on the course. Finishing the game at hole 18 were competitions hosted by Hypegolf, which included long putt challenge, one on challenge and longest drive contest, before players head to the award ceremony.

To inspire golfers with a new approach to tournament golf, music and style played a vital role. Two Red Bull trucks featured live DJ sets and drinks energized players throughout the game. Stylish guests discovered the latest golf fashion merchandise at the BEAMS and Jun Co. Ltd booths, and had a chance to try on adidas’ yet- to-release CODECHAOS golf shoe series. Players also enjoyed the special menus curated at the TRIBA COFFEE, Superiority Burger, Ming Teng Hao Hao and Masaka food trucks, and Hypebeans, which was newly launched last month, served its signature iced-coffee at its coffee truck.

Taking the day beyond sports was a live music performance by Japanese band, Mighty Crown. Known for their reggae music in different types of forms, the performance took place at a stage in the shape of a dome, and the golf course was lit up by sphere lights that resonated with golf balls.

The full day event offered a one-of-its-kind inclusive experience that merged golf, contemporary style, art, music and culinary offerings, all in collaboration with exciting brands such as Porsche Japan, Ralph Lauren, G-SHOCK, ZOZO, adidas, BEAMS, New Balance, TaylorMade, EcoFlow, PING, Red Bull and Jun Co. Ltd among others.
