村上隆の“お花”がワシントンD.C.の国立小児病院を彩る

日本が世界に誇る現代アーティスト 村上隆が、ワシントンD.C.にある国立小児病院とチームアップ。これは世界の複数都市にスペースを構える『Gagosian（ガゴシアン）』と「RxArt」が企画したもので、幼い患者が診断を受ける際に少しでもリラックスできるようにと、彼の代表的なデザインである“お花”を病院内の1室の壁一面にプリントしたほか、がん診断などを行うPET-CT（陽電子放射断層撮影装置）をラッピング。一般的な病院の荒涼とした雰囲気とは全く異なる明るい印象の部屋に仕上がっている。

Our CT/PET Scan Suite went from drab to fab with a beautiful new installation by artist Takashi Murakami! Through our partnership with @RxART, the suite now features a vibrant and happy landscape of @Takashipom's smiling flowers and clouds, aiming to alleviate some of the anxiety our patients feel as they receive scans. "The CT Suite can be an imposing environment and some beauty and levity is so helpful," says Dr. Dorothy Bulas, the hospital's Chief, Division of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiology. "We hope that no child would need to come here, but when they do, we want to reassure them that they are getting the best care.
