In vista della première giapponese di questa settimana di Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, Kenshi Yonezu ha diffuso il video ufficiale di “IRIS OUT”, uno dei due brani tema del prossimo film. Scritto e interpretato dallo stesso Yonezu, il brano di due minuti e mezzo si sviluppa in un arrangiamento jazz dal sapore ragtime: una linea di basso martellante, accenti techno, voci stratificate e riff di pianoforte scintillanti creano un’atmosfera al tempo stesso giocosa, caotica e pericolosamente elettrica.

Dal punto di vista sonoro, “IRIS OUT” cattura tutta la carica cinematografica di Reze, il nuovo personaggio cardine del film. Il testo ufficiale in inglese racconta l’infatuazione di Denji: “The way you look up at me is so adorable, it just kills me/it’s almost illegal/Scattering madness, I’d squandered it all before I knew it and your existence is to blame/My head’s severed from my body/I love yous spew from my carotid artery and it’s IRIS OUT”, sottolineandone l’ardore spericolato e ossessivo.

Il titolo rimanda al classico effetto cinematografico dell’iris-out, in cui i bordi della scena si scuriscono in un cerchio che si chiude per mettere in risalto il soggetto prima che l’immagine sfumi nel nero. “IRIS OUT” è già disponibile su Spotify e Apple Music, mentre il lato B del singolo – una collaborazione con Hikaru Utada – arriverà il 24 settembre via SME Records. Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc debutterà in Giappone il 19 settembre e arriverà nelle sale statunitensi il 24 ottobre 2025.
