Con il trailer ufficiale della nuova serie Disney+, Marvel imbocca una svolta decisamente meta nella satira di Hollywood, Wonder Man. La serie è una commedia autoironica che esplora fama, ambizione e l’assurdo della mitologia dei supereroi, sullo sfondo glamour di Los Angeles.

Il trailer presenta Yahya Abdul-Mateen II nei panni di Simon Williams, un attore in crisi la cui corsa alla fama lo porta a fare un provino per il ruolo da protagonista in un’operazione dichiaratamente meta: il remake di un Wonder Man film all’interno dell’universo narrativo. Il ritorno più atteso è Sir Ben Kingsley, che riprende il ruolo di Trevor Slattery, l’eccentrico attore mancato di Iron Man 3 e Shang-Chi. La dinamica tra l’eroe in erba e l’impostore navigato è al centro del tono comico e al tempo stesso toccante della serie.

La serie viene descritta come una “lettera d’amore” alla recitazione e all’industria hollywoodiana. Il trailer mostra Williams alle prese con provini, rifiuti e un legame con Slattery nato dalla fatica di bilanciare l’arte con la necessità di guadagnare. Questo insolito progetto Marvel, prodotto esecutivamente da Destin Daniel Cretton, offre un approccio intelligente e sincero al genere supereroistico. Affrontando di petto il tema della “stanchezza da supereroi”, Wonder Man si preannuncia come una delle aggiunte più originali e stimolanti al MCU. La serie arriva su Disney+ il 27 gennaio 2026 alle 18:00 PT.
