Lo scorso fine settimana, l’artista britannico George Rouy ha inaugurato una personale con Almine Rech nello storico Château de Boisgeloup, in Francia. Allestita nello studio di scultura di Pablo Picasso, SHADOWING presenta una nuova serie di dipinti pensata appositamente per lo spazio, che approfondisce la sua indagine viscerale su carne e ossa, in dialogo diretto con uno dei più radicali teorici della corporeità nella storia dell’arte.

Le figure di Rouy, solitarie o intrecciate, emergono e si dissolvono in stati di flusso eterno, sospese tra tensione e abbandono. Tavolozze dai toni lividi e pennellate espressive danno vita a corpi insieme spettrali e umani — “esplorazioni rapsodiche di massa, movimento e identità”, come si legge in una nota della galleria.
