George Condo and Hypebeast's Limited-Edition Capsule Collection
Hypebeast, the leading global platform for contemporary culture and lifestyle, unveiled a limited-edition apparel collection with George Condo that serves as a material afterimage of one of the magazine’s most ambitious issues to date. Condo, who appeared as a cover star for Hypebeast Magazine Issue 36: The Platinum Issue, anchors a collaboration that frames his four-decade-long practice — from the downtown New York post-punk scene to his status as a master of contemporary painting — as a wearable artifact.
Condo’s work has always resisted containment, borrowing freely from art history, psychology, and pop culture to collapse the boundaries between “high” and “low” expression. This ethos carries directly into the capsule, where the collection is approached as another surface for Condo’s visual language — much like his legendary work on album covers and skate decks.
The result is a restrained, editorially-minded range that foregrounds the icon’s artwork across four limited-edition pieces. The collection emphasizes texture and scale, utilizing semi-oversized fits and washed finishes to ensure the artwork feels embedded rather than simply imposed. Subtle co-branding, including discreet Hypebeast logo tabs, keeps the focus squarely on the artist’s visual output.
The Hypebeast x George Condo capsule includes a Light Blue Striped Oxford Shirt featuring a digital print of Condo’s artwork, a Black Hawaiian Shirt serving as a statement piece with full-coverage artwork print, a Black Graphic T-Shirt utilizing a “laser-burned” rendering of Condo’s imagery, and a Washed Black Ball Cap finished with the artist’s name embroidered across the front.
Produced in limited quantities, the release mirrors the spirit of The Platinum Issue: considered, finite, and designed to exist as a time capsule. For fans of Condo’s work and readers of the magazine, the capsule operates as both a wearable investment and a continuation of the editorial conversation.
The George Condo x Hypebeast capsule collection is available exclusively at Gallery HBX as well as online at hbx.com and The Broad Museum.
