Framing Life in Rhythm and Clarity with Bergas Haryadita
HB: Lo sering berada di spaces yang penuh energi, but who are you outside the booth when everything slows down?
Bergas: When I’m at home, everything slows down with no particular rhythm. I love being at home with my wife—it’s my happy place. I’m a somewhat quiet person, and I know it might sound a bit boring, but I love a routine. At this age, I’m very domesticated.
“For me, clarity comes from not getting caught up in the hustle. Avoid the algorithm. You already have your own knowledge and taste—let that grow organically.”
Bergas: Every morning, we always spend time together listening to music, having coffee, and watering our plants. It’s a special moment for me—music was, and still is, one of the things that connects us. These listening sessions in the morning are something I truly cherish.
HB: Have you ever found creative clarity not from pushing forward, but from slowing down? What did that space reveal to you?
Bergas: Everything I love and cherish is with me at home. Taking the time to enjoy and appreciate what I already have often sparks creative ideas and reminds me of the blessings that keep me motivated.
HB: As a DJ and cultural initiator, lo sering nge-curate vibe buat banyak orang.
Bergas: I always try to react to the moment and give a positive output. It’s about giving people what they want in a way that still channels your own style—curating their euphoria through your own lens.
“To be understood is a kind of peace.”
HB: Kalau ada satu track yang selalu lo keep—not for the crowd, tapi buat lo sendiri—lagu apa?
Bergas: This is a really hard question. It’s tough to pick just one track from the endless amount of beautiful music out there—it really depends on your mood and state of mind. Lately, I’ve been listening a lot to Tears for Fears – Advice for the Young at Heart. It’s always held a special place in my heart since the first time I heard it. The music, the lyrics, the video—everything is just flawless.
Bergas: For me, clarity comes from not getting caught up in the hustle. Avoid the algorithm. You already have your own knowledge and taste—let that grow organically.
HB: Fujifilm suka ngomongin soal “framing things differently.” Kalau kita ngomongin nightlife Jakarta, apa sih hal yang menurut lo sering dilewatin orang, tapi lo spotlight lewat karya lo?
Bergas: People need to embrace the beauty of difference in music—and be open to new experiences in both sight and sound. Let it in. Let it happen.
HB: Lewat Pleasure dan ZODIAC, lo ikut ngebantu buat nge-shape sound and space.
Bergas: Pleasure and Zodiac were created with the intention of sharing what we genuinely enjoy in music and lifestyle culture. We offer our perspective—through sound, design, and space—with the hope that others will appreciate it too. Every detail in Pleasure and Zodiac is the result of a collective taste and lived experience from me and the crew.
Bergas: There are so many, but I think it would be when Pleasure was picked up by Dover Street Market London and UNION Los Angeles—probably as the first Indonesian brand they ever stocked. It pushed Pleasure to the global stage and maybe opened doors for other local brands to gain international recognition. It was the first time we realized we could offer something meaningful—not just for ourselves, but for Indonesia’s dance and lifestyle community. To be understood is a kind of peace.
