隨著 LeBron James 的離開，連續四年闖進 Finals 的 Cleveland Cavaliers 也讓球迷越發不看好。而新賽季即將到來的同時，Cavaliers 陣中主力中鋒 Tristan Thompson 便強勢地點名包括 Philadelphia 76ers、Boston Celtics 和 Toronto Raptors 等東區勁旅，並提到「Cavaliers 仍是一支拿下 4 次東區冠軍的球隊，在你們把 Cavaliers 拉下馬之前，別說太多的廢話」，最後更分別指出 Celtics 與 Cavaliers 在自家主場搶七落敗、76ers 幾乎被橫掃，Raptors 則是僅有一句「我們知道故事如何」，挑釁意味相當明顯。
