Ridley Scott 暫定下一套《異形》作品將以 David 或人工智能為主軸
那麼人類的先驅工程師（Engineer）的起源呢 …？
早前上映的《異形：聖約》中，異形雖然強勢回歸，然而故事仿佛回歸 70 年代元祖電影，在薄弱又缺乏邏輯的劇情下大受吐嘈，大導 Ridley Scott 似乎在聆聽了觀眾的感言後對下一部《異形》作品有了新的方向。Ridley Scott 在接受 The Empire Film Podcast 的訪問時就有以下發表：
I think the evolution of the Alien himself is nearly over, but what I was trying to do was transcend and move to another story, which would be taken over by A.I.’s. The world that the AI might create as a leader if he finds himself onto a new planet. We have actually quite a big layout for the next one.
似乎他認為異形的發展已經到了盡頭，接下來故事的主線將移轉至人工智能。由 Michael Fassbender 所釋演的 David 不單絲絲入扣，而且更在前兩部電影中發揮了推動故事的作用，以他（它？）的思維作為故事主軸自然能令電影更有深度，不過前兩集所留下來的謎團，包括人類起源、工程師的來歷等等，到底何時才能解開呢？
