由世界新聞攝影基金會主辦的年度 World Press Photo 宣布 2016 年獲獎結果後，Sony 也釋出了 2016 年 Sony World Photography Awards 候選者名單及作品。今年總共有 230,103 張攝影作品參賽，比去年高出 28％，並創下歷史紀錄。其中分別設有公開賽、專業賽、青年賽等不同賽事，獎品包括 $30,000 美元以及 Sony 最新數碼相機，獲獎者還將參加 4 月 21 日的倫敦 Gala Ceremony（Digital Communication Awards）。現可一覽部份候選者的參賽作品。
