自從 Kobe Bryant 宣佈退役，2016 NBA 變成他的 Show Time，能與之搶收視的人，只有狀態處於顛峰的 Stephen Curry。2016 NBA All-Star Game 投票結果把這個結論數據化；NBA.com 發表初回投票結果，Kobe Bryant 以 719,235 票遠遠拋離去年 MVP Stephen Curry（510,202） 足 20 萬票之多，曾是票王的 LeBron James 以 357,937 排得 3，所得的票甚至不及 Kobe 一半。All-Star Game 表演性質至上，最緊要高興，相信比賽當日球員都會醒目「禮讓」，給 Kobe 好好表演。Kobe 首年以前鋒身份上陣 All-Star Game，如順利進入本年正選陣容，他就會以 17 次出場紀錄排史上參與 All-Star Game 第 2 多，以 2 場之差排在 Kareen Abdul-Jabbar 之後，但他依然以 280 分穩坐 All-Star Game 得分最高之位。Kobe 接受訪問時表示，得知投票結果時自己正在煮咖啡，震驚不足以形容當時感受，唯有感謝大家愛戴。
“Yes. Yes. Listen, I was making a little coffee run this morning, got some gas, and decided to just go on Instagram and peruse, and [I] saw the damn votes, and I was like, ‘What the hell?’ Shocked doesn’t do it justice. “
“It’s exciting. What can I say? Just thankful,”
