VERBAL and YOON are the couple behind AMBUSH design, which was founded in 2008. The Tokyo-based pop art-influenced brand started out making womenswear jewellery before branching out into unisex collections. The brand has collaborated with everyone from Louis Vuitton to UNDERCOVER to sacai and Maison Kitsuné.
In 2016 AMBUSH launched their first ever flagship store, called AMBUSH WORKSHOP, which came hot on the heels of its Paris debut of 2015, two steps which showcased its desire to take the brand beyond cult status. In addition to AMBUSH’s growth, YOON will be well known to A$AP Rocky fans, who’ll recognise her from the “L$D” video.
YOON and VERBAL met in college in Boston, while YOON was studying graphic design and VERBAL majored in philosophy and marketing. VERBAL, a known rapper and part of M-Flo, Teriyaki Boyz and PKCZ, took over the company that owned AMBUSH, bringing out VERBAL to Tokyo where he resided. 2017 will likely see the brand continue their expansion and move into European territories.
