As the effervescent duo behind Maison Kitsuné, Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki oversaw a busy 12 months at the Paris-based label. At the start of the year it revealed its Love Rises collection for 2016 fall/winter, which was trailed with a cherry blossom-inspired lookbook showcasing a typically sharp take on wardrobe staples. In May, Maison Kitsuné introduced its inaugural footwear line, which included a penny loafer and a lace-up boot for men, and later in the year, the brand’s 2017 spring/summer collection came heavy on bright colors and prints. May also saw the arrival of a travel-inspired capsule collection with MR PORTER that included printed tees, fox-patch polos, chinos and shorts while later in the year, the label’s very Parisian take on Reebok’s Instapump Furys was limited to just 500 pairs, further proving Maison Kitsuné’s knack for producing characterful menswear.
