S-10 Problems (motor, backfire)

Aug 07, 2007 @ 00:37
I washed my chevy s-10 today and the motor at one of them quater car washes where you do it your self. i washed the motor with the engine wash and then rinsed it down with regular water. when i was done i was on my way, i thought. I drove for about 1 min then i hear backfire i pull over and put it in N and gas it then the back fire put put motor shaking like crazy and then it dies. If i let it sit for a min or two then start it it runs fine at a idle for about 40 sec then the motor starts to shake like crazy. We ran the truck for a good hour of this problem start stop start stop and it still wont run normal.....

Any ideas?

check the gaskets sounds like water entered the engine.

yeah, did you use a pressurized hose or just a regular hose?

Ok just let it sit without running the engine for a while, maybe like overnight. You may have just got a small amount of water in there and it needs to dry out before you cause more issues. Check your oil to see if it looks milky. If it does then you got water in the engine for sure. I am sure you will be fine though.
