anyone else get some books that you have to put in a binder ?

You usually save money in this situation because you don't have to pay for the book to get bound. For example, I took a Biology class last year that required a $100 looseleaf book versus the $150 bound book. Yeah, I couldn't sell it back afterwards, but I would have only got like $20 for it hardback, which means I would have been down $130 versus just spending the $100 and getting to keep the looseleaf at the end of the class. And you should be able to sell the looseleaf copy to another student for a couple bucks as well. It's really the way to go if you're given the option.
eBooks are, of course, the best option, but they're never going to become standard given the retarded amount of money that a school book store brings in.
