Originally posted by Inactive UserSacha Baren Cohen, the funny man and character actor behind 'Borat' and 'Bruno,' is gearing up to play his most political role to date. The actor will be playing the role of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.
Cohen is set to star in a comedy inspired by a book thought to be written by Hussein titled 'Zabibah and the King,' BBC reports. The book was a best-seller in Iraq back in 2000.
Paramount Pictures joked that the film would "tell the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed." Writers Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel, who all work for 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' have been signed on to write the script.
The film, titled 'The Dictator,' is scheduled to be released in theaters May 11, 2012. It will be directed by Larry Charles, who has worked with Cohen on both 'Bruno' and 'Borat.
Originally posted by Inactive UserWell this one came out of left-field. While attending a U.K. event to promote latest film Henry's Crime, Keanu Reeves revealed that the Wachowskis are planning two more Matrix movies.
According to AICN, Reeves met with the Wachowskis over Christmas, at which time they announced that they had "completed work on a two-picture script treatment that would see him return to the world of The Matrix as Neo."
The pair have already met with James Cameron to discuss the potential use of 3D, with Keanu claiming that they will be looking to shoot a movie that will revolutionise the action genre in the same way the original did.
The team will apparently talk again once the Wachowskis have finished work on their long-gestating adaptation of Cloud Atlas, but this is certainly exciting news for fans of the franchise.
Head here for the full story, plus news of Bill and Ted 3 and Reeves' next film, 47 Ronin.

Though the role is unspecified, the article suggests that it is major part and speculation could easily place Bardem as the film's villain. If that is the case, Bardem would mark the second Oscar winner to face off against the secret agent after Christopher Walken in 1985's A View to a Kill.
Currently, Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are confirmed to return for the franchise sequel under Director Sam Mendes. No plot details are currently available, but the script (from Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan) is said to pick up soon after the events of Quantum of Solace.
Whether or not Bardem accepts the offer remains to be seen. He's also rumored to have been offered the lead in Ron Howard's cross-platform adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower. He is currently nominated for an Academy Award for his work in last year's Biutiful.
