uhh...not Rourke as Bane; it has to be some feeble-looking actor to accompany the back story.

Inception was a good chance for Nolan to evaluate Gordon-Levitt and see what he can really bring to the table. I am rootin for this to happen.
Jul 11, 2010 @ 01:37
me too... JGL always reminds me of a young Heath Ledger. rumor has it that Adrien Brody wants the Riddler role.

Lil bro gonna love this news.

Yeah they're going to have to bring in a bad guy who can live in a more realistic world. Recent Spiderman movies dealt with the unrealistic and fantastical, while the Nolan Batman movies dealt with more realistic problems that really helped bring Nolan's vision of Gotham city to life.

should be interesting to see who they choose as the actor/villain.

JGL would be good, but he does look ALOT like Heath.

i know Robin Williams went on record saying that he'd love to play the Riddler.

i think he could do it. he's played a psycho killer in an Nolan movie before... thoughts?
Jul 13, 2010 @ 11:13
i think he could but id like to see someone younger and im a big fan of JGL.

edit: and i still would give my left nut to see the ventriloquist

i guess he could do well and it's something that could help him be taken seriously as an actor, not just a comedian

on the other hand insomnia didnt do as well in the box office as many had hoped, despite its excellent reviews. nolan could be taking a big risk using williams, might turn off some viewers since jim carrey did such a horrible job as the riddler last time around, they don't want another comedian.

this is true. i wouldnt blame carry for that movie being shitty though lol. and id probably say that arnold as mr freeze was worse

jim carrey as the Riddler was probably the best part about Batman Forever.

i could see Robin Williams as the Ventriloquist (Scarface) as well. he's great with multiple voices, and can pull off the innocent old man look.

also, i think if Insomnia was released today (now that everyone knows who Chris Nolan is), it'd probably do pretty well.

I'd love to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt get this role.

Lurkin' on Wiki:

Aaron Eckhart had expressed his enthusiasm that he would reprise his role for a sequel if asked, although he later confirmed that, in talks with Nolan before Heath Ledger's death, the director considers his character dead.

"There are certain characters that are easier to mesh with the more real take on Batman we're doing. The Penguin would be tricky."

Nolan has also confirmed that Jonathan Nolan is writing the script and that the villain of the film “won't be Mr. Freeze.”

In June 2010, Nolan confirmed that the Joker will not return in the third film.[108] On June 30, 2010, Nolan confirmed that the script written by Jonathan Nolan has been finished.[109] The film will begin shooting in April 2011.[110]"

So, what majors are left?

Ra's, Catwoman, Riddler, Ivy, Bane, Croc, Clayface, Mad Hatter, Harley?
Jul 17, 2010 @ 09:56
doubt harley will show up with out joker.

if they put clayface and riddler in it im sold.
Jul 17, 2010 @ 13:15
It's obviously going to be Riddler
Jul 18, 2010 @ 05:23
bane as a minor villain, at least an intro fight scene
harley quinn could be cool
hugo strange could also work
killer croc could be done realistically

buuuuuuuut. i really think they could do the ventriloquist. with the mob all messed up after the last movie someone has to take over.

know what im saying? its never been done.. and could just be fucking sick

Harley wont be in it because jokers wont be in it but who knows, she might come out from somewhere. Killer croc would be a stretch haha.
I agree bane should be a minor. Also agree that the ventriloquist would be cool but at the same time I think it would have to be done perfectly or else i think it'll turn out really corny.

Catwoman, no. Clayface ummmm doubt it? Penguin i can see done in a pretty sick way. Mr. Freeze, hell fuckin no. Along with catwoman, no female villains so no poison ivy.
I think Blackmask could be pretty cool too but I'm not sure if they're gonna do villains that aren't the most popular.

People are too brainwashed over jim carreys version of the riddler. If you know about the riddler then you know that hes not goofy like the joker. Hes a really serious character. Everyone always seem to think that hes all wacked out because of carrey's portrayal. I think he could be a good villain for the next
Jul 18, 2010 @ 05:31
haha going in on me jacob. Bane and other villains like killer croc are just so one dimensional. theres no real plot that can come from them. The obvious choices would be riddler of course. Rumors are that Joseph Gordon-Levitt might be casted somewhere in the movie. especially after inception

edit: I feel like his portrayal of the Joker is too similar to previous versions of the Riddler

I would love to see JGL play the riddler. Huge fan of the dude.
Jul 19, 2010 @ 01:28
how is two-face not gonna be in it? they spent half the movie setting him up and he barely did anything.

Jul 19, 2010 @ 01:47
well, dent's role (white knight) was primarily to set up a contrast with bruce wayne's role and eventual transformation into the dark knight (along with the death of rachel), so i think he served his purpose pretty well.

On a different note, while i am glad the joker will no longer be in the movies, I would like some kind of continuation with the character. Him hanging upside down from a building is hardly the final image of the joker people want. Maybe a mention of what happened to him in the 3rd film would be cool.
Jul 19, 2010 @ 02:06
^ They'll mention he's in Arkham.
Jul 19, 2010 @ 21:26
i could see harley quinn in it, she could be out for revenge, most definately the riddler looks confirmed and robin as nightwing would definately be in this universe because he was so dark compared to the young robin, so it could flesh out but i seriously doubt itsmokeyface
Jul 19, 2010 @ 21:42
fuck i cant wait to see some pictures of the new gear.
