The Official Levi's Thread

I was about to impulse buy the kaihara selvedge to but good thing I emailed levi's and they told me it's pre-wash/pre-shrunk so it's not raw at all.

u gonna really believe some cust serv rep at levis? in their eyes their denim falls into two categories

STF or Not STF..these arent STF so the rep assumes that they are washed

i assume these are sanforized which is what the rep prob meant but has no clue about our denim jargon
Aug 05, 2010 @ 11:20
I got some Levis Matchstick Kaihara size 30 coming in and might be letting it go because Levis wont cancel it for me. Anyone interested, send me a PM

Yea i'm sure it's easy however they told me since it was 50% off, they don't take returns on those items. Honestly i thought that was on sale items only and not coupons.

damn how did u get them for 50% off? i bought 2 pairs for 40% off and returned one w/o an issue
Aug 05, 2010 @ 20:13
they had a 50% off for about 12 hours on tuesday night. I would've used it but I knew that it would've void the returns.
Aug 07, 2010 @ 05:09
^^ Yup i'm pretty sure it was around tuesday. Didn't know they don't allow returns though or else i would have thought about it more before buying. Just not liking how the back pockets are looking from some fit pics few pages back.
Aug 07, 2010 @ 12:03
I think I read that it's just when you get 50% off or more on something they don't allow refunds/returns. It was either Levi's or another site I looked at before but I think it's Levi's
Aug 07, 2010 @ 12:32
if u really want to know a stores return policy just read it on their site

True 30 and you bought a 28 waist? I'm pretty sure you won't be able to button those up. Unless you plan on never letting them touch water because they'll shrink at least 1-2 sizes.
Aug 10, 2010 @ 17:07
lol true. You're suppose to go tts, -1 pushing it, for a slim fit and +3" on the length. Good luck fitting into those when shrinking lol.

You would think this, but It's actually been done before.

He is the same height/weight as I am. I love the fit!
Figure why not throw up the 40 bones and give it a try haha
Aug 10, 2010 @ 18:39
I take back what I said. Those looks amazing for STF. I should've copped it for $17.50 when they had the 50% coupon. >=[
Aug 10, 2010 @ 19:14
Yeahhh! Inspirational haha
$40 is not much though, I'd still go for it

Yeah, I can get them for $30-33 after tax here. Lots of selection at a local country/cowboy place. I messed up my other one by trying to get the fading to come faster lol. I'm thinking to get another one and do it his method just for the hell of it. haha

To each their own... but this pretty much sums it up.

When I think denim, "pain" and getting used to said pain is not what immediately pops into my head. Also... Every wash would shrink it again. So repeat pain for nice fit?

^ this is how i see it:

Pros - $40! (hopefully) GREAT fit. Comfortable (after 2 weeks/wash).

"After two weeks of everyday wear i had a comfortable fit."

"after 3 months of everyday wear, the fit is holding up nicely. the waist is now very comfortable."

Cons - 2 weeks of (bearable) pain @ start, and possibly @ wash.

also, remember that other (more expensive) brands w/ sizing down experience the "tight breaking in phase"

Pros heavily out-weigh Cons, IMO.

so i say: why not smokeyface

Not sure what you mean about the "more expensive" denim having a sizing down experience and "tight breaking in". Only denim I can think of is APC... I can't name any other "expensive" denim where I would size down effectively "4 sizes" (maybe 1-2 at the very most) and have to stretch them out in a painful way then either repeat every wash or just don't wash them at all.

I agree the Pros are definitely worthwhile if you're on a budget or you just really really really want to force a straight leg denim into a slim fit, but I'd rather spend cash on the actually cut of denim I want instead of turning 501 STFs into something they're not.
