Small DENIM Questions Thread

If it's still uncomfortable then you probably sized wrong. You should measure your true waist size from now on and not go with what you wear in other brands. As for those jeans, try riding a bike or playing basketball in them. The more activity you do while you wear your jeans the more they should stretch out.
I did though. bought a tag size 30 (actual waist 31) for my actual waist of 31 inches. Should I try a 31 next time? (actual size 32)
I guess... If 30 doesn't work for you then the logical thing would be to get a 31 next time.

They don't stretch out much, so I would say go true to size. Go to your nearest GAP retailer and try em on yourself.

Just copped a pair of n&f, the fit's good but the pants are long. Anyone know if it would be okay to get them hemmed before wearing them, or should i just wear em for a while and get them hemmed later in the process?

Idk about the other guy, but I have a pair of skinny and they stretched alot, much more so than my unbranded 201's of the same size. I got a size 34, and they are probably a 35 in the waist now.

Does it cost more to hem selvedge denim rather than other jeans/pants? and when I get my jeans hemmed do I say that I want the original hem to remain at the bottom?

blue owl charges 25 so I guess most places charge the same, you just have to make sure they have a machine that does a chain stitch hem, or the selvedge line will be messed up.

How can I get rid of throw up stench without throwing them in a washer? I already soaked and threw em in the freezer twice. What do you guys recommend?

washed my denim to get mud off, but mud is still visible - but less than before - and still a bit smelly.
Should i wash again, and this time scrub? or...?

Same. Im looking for a slim straight fit with a little distress

Do you have to get selvedge denim chain stitched, will it ruin the selvedge if you don't and just ask the tailor to hem them without additional information?

No, you don't need to hem with chain stiching.
No, it won't ruin selvedge line.

Does anyone have pics of Gap Selvedge Denim? I just want to see how they turn out. Thanks!

Can tapering jeans greatly affect the overall looks of a pair of pants/ jeans?
and when giving my jeans to my tailor to be tapered, 50/50 chance selvedge could be messed up? any experiences?

Tapering only affects the jeans from the knee down.
When asking for a taper ask if they can taper from the inseam, unless you don't mind losing your selvedge lining.
Jan 11, 2013 @ 03:48
^
I didn't ask to taper from the inseam so now i'm pretty scared about the ending result, live and learn though,
thanks for the input.

this might be a dumb question, but is it possible to unwax waxed jeans?

Wash them many times. They will eventually lose their wax, as did mine.

how many times we talking?

So the right leg of my new denim keeps turning in a bit. I have them cuffed and the selvedge line down my left side looks on point, but the right side its like too much towards the front of my kicks. I keep trying to fix the stacks and move it to the side but then when I walk it just goes back to its normal position. What to do?

Depends on how high quality your waxed denim are. Mine were kinda shitty, and lost all wax after 3-5 washes.
