Small DENIM Questions Thread

Jan 11, 2013 @ 01:01
Does anyone have pics of Gap Selvedge Denim? I just want to see how they turn out. Thanks!

Can tapering jeans greatly affect the overall looks of a pair of pants/ jeans?
and when giving my jeans to my tailor to be tapered, 50/50 chance selvedge could be messed up? any experiences?

Tapering only affects the jeans from the knee down.
When asking for a taper ask if they can taper from the inseam, unless you don't mind losing your selvedge lining.

I didn't ask to taper from the inseam so now i'm pretty scared about the ending result, live and learn though,
thanks for the input.

this might be a dumb question, but is it possible to unwax waxed jeans?

Wash them many times. They will eventually lose their wax, as did mine.

how many times we talking?

So the right leg of my new denim keeps turning in a bit. I have them cuffed and the selvedge line down my left side looks on point, but the right side its like too much towards the front of my kicks. I keep trying to fix the stacks and move it to the side but then when I walk it just goes back to its normal position. What to do?

Depends on how high quality your waxed denim are. Mine were kinda shitty, and lost all wax after 3-5 washes.

Before asking why I got my denim tapered, UO messed up my order and gave me straights, decided to just get them tapered because I was done with Urban's service.

Anyway, coming back from the tailor the jeans fit great now but the selvedge line seems to have been stretched; I knew that something was going to be messed up when getting them altered, but I'm curious to know what happen to cause the selvedge to become wider? I'm not exactly sure how to explain it, any input? I'm guessing there's no way to fix it?

edit: after looking at them, should I have asked for the original hem?

Original hem has nothing to do with tapering. Here's a quick fix.

Otherwise, don't cuff.

Just try your best to ignore leg twist. It has to do with whether the denim is left or right hand twill.
It's perfectly normal.

What's the exact term for indigo loss/ when it spreads onto shoes, and even my boxers tho..
possible to remove from suede?

I've heard of taping the inside of the jeans, more info? / other tips to prevent?

"Bleeding"
Definitely, just use some suede shoe cleaner (eg Jason Markk)
Taping is exactly as it sounds, take some tape (preferably wider packing tape), and tape the inner cuffs of your jeans.
No other solution to prevent bleeding (unless you cuff up so jeans don't touch shoes, or wash till no more indigo loss).

Is pretty popular, but no selvedge (IMO, I wouldn't be cuffing when wearing black denim though).

This was on the hb sac beefin thread, but how does one achieve stacks like the dude on the left?
is it the cut of the jeans, or the time, or the length,? thanks

I just got a pair of denim with creases and wax coating. Do you know if the creases would be removed if the wax coating wears out? I really don't want that to happen because I love the creased look.

RECOMMENDATION FOR JEAN WITH WIDER KNEE

I need a jean with a knee that measures around 10" across. My knee curves more than the typical man's, I guess, because most jeans do not flatter and give this leg area a bit of a womanly profile.

The closest I've seen is the APC rescue that measures 9.75" in 35. I actually want the waist to stretch out to 35", but I understand that APCs stretch out a lot. Sizing down to 33 or 34 has 9.5" knee, but I don't think the knee will stretch out in proportion with the waist.

Any other ideas for a jean with knees close to 10"?

Thank you!
Jan 29, 2013 @ 05:12
APC can stretch 2" in waist so a 33-34 should be good for you I'd think

is there gonna be a restock on the self edge x Imperial sexi14's? if not where can i get them? would they have them at their new york store?

So I received a pair of naked and famous from a dude he soaked them before wearing. Dumb question but should they feel soft after a soak, basically like regular washed denim? Just surprised by the texture and now it seems like it will be a lot harder to fade..?

Buyers Help:
Uniqlo Made in Japan Selvedge or Unbranded Slim Straight Selvedge?

I've owned the Unbranded's before, but never the Uniqlo. Both are around the same price & I know the Unbranded's are heavier, but I don't really care too much about that.

Any suggestions?
