Thinking of copping some black jeans. They're regular straight fits tho. If i size down like 1-2 sizes could i achieve a slim fit lol?

Ok so my leg opening is way too big. I wanted to know what can i do to make it smaller right now if i measured it right its 17inches i want to make it like an 8 lol. Do i get it tapered(?) Hemmed(?) and how much would it cost.
Jun 25, 2010 @ 01:07
Taper means getting the leg slimmer

Hem means to cut short.

The cost would depend on the alteration place that you go to. It usually varies from $10-20 for me. If you are to get them tapered, you're not going to have the selvage line anymore. Or according to my alteration place.

Well im going to get them tapered today blushing Im thinking that it should make the leg opening smaller correct?
Jun 25, 2010 @ 17:34
How do Topman skinny chinos and jeans fit? I dont know if I should size up or stay at my true waist which is 32. measurements would help

Well, they're going to taper the whole leg also cause if you just do the leg opening its going to look awkward. And how are you measuring it? 17 inches? It should just be measured flat straight across.

oh i measured it another way. Im tapering it my self. With no sewing machine ?)

Is to too skinny? i only did the right leg
Jun 29, 2010 @ 14:06
that depends on how slim of a fit you're looking for (i know that seems obvious but it really determines it lol)

Can someone explain the difference b/w these two pair of Levi 501s: I don't know much about chipped and resin rinse. http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3631363&cp=3146842.3146844.3146854.3194290.3692022

It seems like the chipped is more heavily liked. Need quick feedback.
Jun 29, 2010 @ 20:28
In layman's terms, the resin one is rinsed, while the chipped one has been abraded to make the jean look a bit more worn in.

Is there any denim that fit like 501/514 with a tapered leg?

any size 38 wearers have a good recommendation for jeans with a straight leg fit/tapered leg opening? i've had an ongoing battle with getting a pair of jeans i actually love the fit on. i'm looking into sz 38 weird guys, but i fear the leg opening will be to big.
Jul 01, 2010 @ 17:15
^ I personally would recommend you just get any denim of your choice and get them personally tapered to your liking.

i worried about getting the legs taken in due to the selvedge lining getting messed up. i'll go with these naked & famous and go to a tailor. thanks!
Jul 02, 2010 @ 01:36
i think you can ask them to work on the other inseam where the selvedge isn't there on the legs unless they have to work on both. i wouldn't really know though, i've never gotten jeans tailored

Jul 05, 2010 @ 21:57
does sizing up also create larger leg openings? and vice versa
Jul 05, 2010 @ 22:21
^depends on the denim.
usually it does, sometimes it doesn't.
I know for my apcs sizing up or down, the leg opening is the same.

read the measurement tables.

Does cuffing your jeans past your ankle fuck up the bottom part? (denim that was in the cuff)
