Strike Gold Jeans from Japan

Introducing Strike Gold from Japan

Hailing from Okayama, the denim capital of Japan, Strike Gold is a line created by the Hamamoto brothers with over twenty years of experience in the Japanese denim industry.

Starting off the collection with two denim styles and two belts.
The SG1101 jean is a straight leg fit with a flattering silhouette for all body types with a medium rise and a classic fit.
The SG1105 jean is a slim leg fit that's got a medium rise and is slim from the top to the bottom but doesn't hug the calf.
The jean has a burly feel to it at first due to the rigid denim that comes in it's loomstate form, after a warm water soak the denim opens up a bit and begins to soften with wear.

This denim from Strike Gold has massive character even when raw with a lot of loom chatter visible from both the warp and weft sides of the denim. Due to the abrasive nature of the denim when raw the jean will age faster than most jeans and yield an extremely high contrast fade with normal wear.

Strike Gold has gone to the extent of getting custom rivets made which have a male part made of iron and a female piece made of copper. The reason for this is that the male piece will begin to rust over time but the female piece will darken and leaf over time giving the wearer a well rounded aging pattern even on the rivets. Crazy for some, essential for others.

Idk, they look a little awkward fitting to me, I'd need to see some Evo pictures

interested, but I want to see how these fade first...the texture / blue i.d. selvage reminds me of pbj

These look Great to me! Any more Info? price, release, sizing info...?

Oh, it's all on the selfedge site

Those look ill. The fit is decent, not amazing, but I'm really drawn by the abrasive-ness that the description suggests. These are def worth considering...

That fit does look really good, and actually i think that's pre-soak so it might even look better after he soaked em.

I really like that fit...especially the room in the calf. Makes shoes look a lot better when there's room in the calf area imo.

Nice fit! I like the pocket stitching. im trying to choose between these or some F310's
Jul 14, 2010 @ 15:04
hahaha i just googled Strike Gold to see if they had an actual website, and came across this thread. Then realized my fit pics were on here! Thanks for the compliments guys, and Kiya these are post-soak blushing

oh and I've been wearing these jeans for a couple weeks now, I'm in love with them. I set aside my imperial dukes and made these my main jean.

cosmic..i also have a pair of 310's, both are great. the 310's aren't as rigid and don't have the loom chatter as the strike golds do. The 310's are much more blue from the start. just depends what you're looking for, but you'll be happy with either pair I assure you!

jbphoto23 - how did you size on those? fit is perfect!
Aug 02, 2010 @ 06:28
yeah these are fading pretty fast, I sent them to selfedge to get hemmed though so I've been wearing my 310's for the past week, I miss my SG's! smh

my actual waist measures 30, I got a 29 and the waist fits great after a hot soak and still after 2 weeks of wear.

oh by the way, I can't say enough about the texture of the denim, whenever someone comes into contact with my jeans, they're intrigued. for example...i was patted down by a cop the other day...he was like "damn man why are your jeans so rough" so i proceeded to tell him about raw japanese denim of course..
Aug 03, 2010 @ 14:25
lmao Are you serious

pretty chill cops, even after they found my friends weed and pieces hahah.
Aug 03, 2010 @ 21:47
lol That's a story to tell. Especially if you're trying to tell that to some people that don't know too much about raw denim and stuff hah

That makes me hard, I don't know why, but that looks so nice.. It looks so nice, I can't wait to see yours fully worn in. I am trying to order the heavyweight straight leg ones, but moneypak is not clear when they say you can re-load a prepaid card (so... I tried to do it on the moneypak card, but you can do it on actual pre-paid cards which I don't understand what that means)... so now I have to wait for moneypaks stupid customer service to send me back the money. Once they do which will hopefully be before tomorrow, I am paying for my jeans.

Picture is to compare strike golds with my samurais. Samurais are more greenish, and I get the feeling will not be as hard to fade. But the SG's only have 1 wear so far, and the samurais have 16.
