or does everybody shoot in digital?

sorry im a total noob to photography, and found an old 35mm film slr lying around my house (which is good because im gonna need i this semester for a film class) and was looking for advice as far as lenses/film go, but it looks like most people are shooting in digital.

I own a Canon A-1 and a Minolta X7a. Both use 35mm film. I've only been shooting with them for a few months because I wanted to start useing film again. What did you want to know about the lenses?

I have a Nikon2020 that I used for film class last year, but I don't use it anymore because of the lack of access to a darkroom.

I still shoot in film also, but thats mainly because i have a class this semester plus i always liked using the darkroom. After this class I might switch cause buying film, paper, and developing add up quick. DSLRs are just the smarter way to go nowadays if you can afford one of course.

What kind of camera is it? Do you already have a lens for it? You will probably want a midrange zoom and a fast prime lens (a lens with a fixed focal length and a large aperture). I use a Pentax ME with a 35-70mm and a 50mm f/1.7. This is generally considered a pretty standard setup. As far as film, I'd look online for articles and reviews. I honestly don't really know anything about specific films.

I got an OM-10 but I don't really know what the differences are?
Aug 27, 2008 @ 22:55
I got it at a flea market for about $15
But as of now, naw..I don't have anything scanned.
I have some rolls I wanna get developed soon, plus I will be taking a color photography class this semester so I'm sure I'll probably be able to scan some negs as well? Hopefully.

I just ruined two rolls :\

I THOUGHT the release was on, so I was like "wtf, why isn't it rewinding" and forced it (i know, so dumb) and the film snapped.

I tried putting the film back in the cassette in my bathroom w/ the lights off but it wouldn't go in..but now I know how to properly use the release, sadly smh

I have an old 35mm minolta from the 80s sitting in my closet. I used it pretty heavily during my junior and senior year of high school. Now I mainly use my d-80.

If i only I had a dark room....

I stick to Kodak Tri-X 400TX for my black/white shots.

At my school we aren't allowed to use digital, and I've grown up in a family thats stays dedicated to film I always use 35 mm, simply nothing looks as good as film.

I got mine off Ebay. It is sorta risky, you just want to buy from a trusted seller (check their feedback to see if anyone has complained). The thing about buying online is asking them if they have tested the camera recently. Often, people are selling cameras for or from old relatives and they found the cameras in their closet or something. Different things can go wrong with the cameras online, but if you buy from someone who knows about cameras, you can ask them to check.

I use my Fujica AX-3.

You can check out a Minolta; they are pretty much respected and used by many.
