i thought it was interesting to see how the velvia compared to fuji 400h pro. the photos on the left were with fuji 400h pro and the photos on the right were with fuji velvia 100.

you can see why its so good for nature shots here. the colors of the rocks and the mountains have a lot more detail and contrast and the blues in the sky and water are more vibrant

the colors look pretty funky on the velvia here but all of the shades of blue are pretty amazing where you can see the difference in the deepness of the water

the fuji 400h pro handled the low artificial light much better here but thats not what the velvia was made for

im officially caught up and scanned all of the film that i have and put out the stuff that i like from it. i just recently shot a wedding kind of, and am actually kind of stoked for those shots, because i've learned that i don't like shooting landscapes. these are what i liked from my time in california in september.

it was surreal. i was hella pissed though because i was suppose to fly the day before, aka, the finals of the america's cup, but was hella sick and never left the bed. i talked to the pilot though and he was saying he flew over every day of the race.

look at nicholas's comparisons above. you dont really have a ton of choices because a lot of stocks have been discontinued.

These look so good.

@_Nicholas I second the comment that that is a good study. I'm going to keep the images of the velivia shot's in my head when I shoot some landscapes.

Well lately I have been using some cvs branded film since I had to pick some film quicklt before I left for vaca during summer. I had portra 400 in there before, I think. I usually take the portra tho and just go with the flow. Ektar is coll too depending on how much light you have and if you can get it pushed(not necessary tho).

Why the heck does this automatically link to some random website? I notice that happens on other forums too..

Been thinking about getting the Instax Mini 8, how much is this one? And does it use the same film?
Jan 04, 2014 @ 03:07
i believe all of the instax minis use the same film. this one cost $225. its quite a bit more expensive than the other ones but you can do long exposures, shoot without flash, and do multiple exposures. those three features alone make it worth the money in my opinion.

It looks better now!

To Nicholas: What do you usually do with the photos after you take them?

Edit:awwsheet I just followed you. That's the exact same theme I intend to use when I put up photos for a project haha

I see, I think I'll pick up the same one as you then instead of the Mini 8. Thanks for the advice and awesome shot by the way.

First roll I shot with my Holga CFN while I was in Australia. Something funky happened to the edges of the pics because of the mask I was using with it. I kinda enjoyed the results tho.. especially for the second one.

(Excuse the poor scans, I had to take photos of the photos to scan them, don't have a proper scanner yet)

Also, just sent 2 rolls of Ultramax 400 I shot with my mju-II. So anxious to see the results.

awwsheeet do you do your own scans or do you send it out, if the latter, where to?

Just got 4 rolls of film back. I'm disappointed with a lot of it. I need to change this battery, possibly try a diferent place for scans(which was previously doing a good job so that's why i'm thinking the battery is likely losing its juices and giving me improper readings. It seems like all the white's in my pics are blown out though. Sigh). I have to go through them tomorrow/tonight.

This is one I'm not as disappointed with..

and a more naturally colored version of a pic a put up previously

other than the pictures being larger, how does it shits on the mini? no long exposure, cant turn the flash off.. those two reasons alone are why i went with the mini 90 over the wide. wish they would make a wide instax with the same features as the mini 90, which im assuming will be their next step.

i develop and scan off a v500 scanner for black and white

I drop off at cvs or walgreens for c-41 color film.

what are you disappointed about bernard?  is the exposure off or the scans bad?
