Wood Wood x Mizuno Wave Rider 10

Release Date

March 20, 2020 (US)

Heritage Japanese sportswear label Mizuno and the Copenhagen-born imprint Wood Wood have come together for the release of a collaborative Wave Rider 10.

The pair made its debut at Wood Wood’s Fall/Winter 2020 runway show in Copenhagen, but takes inspiration from the label’s SS20 collection for its colorway. Wood Wood’s twist on the retro-tech runner from 2007 brings muted tones to the sneaker’s mixed-material upper, with grey mesh serving as the silhouette’s base.

Smooth suede is overlayed on top of the mesh all around the shoe, with a blue segment working the toe, a burnt orange hue gracing the rear, and burgundy appearing on the eyestay and mid-panel. Dusty pink leather joins the eyestay to the wavy burgundy shapes found on the side, with the same pink hue used to highlight the VS-1 shock absorption in the sole unit.

Rounding out the sneaker’s upper is a section of durable black canvas seen on the rear-quarter, which is overlayed with silver-toned plastic details. The compression-molded EVA outsole is treated to a two-tone grey makeover, which contrasts the stark white midsole.
