Although it’s been around since the ’90s, Reebok‘s honeycomb-patterned DMX cushioning offers a highly conceptual look — one that’s amplified to a high degree on the brand’s new DMX Elusion 001 FT Low silhouette. With a retrofuturistic look that’s part trainer, part basketball shoe and entirely bold, the Elusion 001 offers an appealingly abstract aesthetic.

Made of black mesh and synthetics, uppers waste no time in applying a plethora of details. The collar offers a shield-style strap system that can be tightened or loosened on both the lateral and medial sides for a custom fit. This system is equipped with blue Reebok Vector branding and is held in place by purple TPE anchors, which wrap around the heel to serve as a heel cage before dropping down into the front half of the midsole in zig-zagging fashion. A hoop shoe-esque mudguard is placed on the forefoot for extra layered style.

Below the heel clip sits a three-piece cushioning system, made of black foam column that encase oval-shaped blue DMX cushioning units. The black rubber outsole offers a cored-out style to cut weight and further showcase the aforementioned purple plate, even adding an embossed Vector logo on the forefoot.

The Reebok DMX Elusion 001 Ft Low is available now at Reebok Japan, and retails for ¥15,400 JPY (approximately $138 USD).
