OAMC and adidas Originals are continuing a unique creative partnership with the debut of a brand-new Type O-4 silhouette. As the name indicates, this is the fourth silhouette crafted by Luke Meier‘s brand and adidas. However, it’s vastly different from the collaborative project’s other releases.
Half closed-toe sandal and half hiker, the Type O-4 nods to the adidas Terrex line by offering an artful blend of high fashion and utilitarian aesthetics. To kick things off, it’s been presented in earthy “Trace Khaki/Stone Khaki” and airy “Off White/Light Brown” colorways, both rife with detail.
“Trace Khaki/Stone Khaki” uses soft brown hues almost exclusively on its supple leather upper. Accents are provided by cut-out black mesh pieces on the forefoot and midfoot, with yellow contrast stitching and burgundy heel tabs offering a pop of color. The toe is closed and secured with a leather overlay but the heel is left open, though it is equipped with a brown plastic clip for support.
Meanwhile, “Off White/Light Brown” mixes gray and ever-so-soft brown tones on the upper. The same burgundy heel tabs and yellow contrast stitching are retained, but the mesh cut-outs use gray instead of black and the heel clip opts for a smoky black in place of brown.
Both styles are brought together by technical equipment like semi-translucent TPE tongues, responsive adiPRENE midsole cushioning, and gum Traxion outsoles with toothed traction patterns. If you look closely, you can also spot dotted Type O-4 branding on each medial quarter and similar printed graphics on the insoles.
The OAMC adidas Type O-4 is priced at $280 USD, and will release on the adidas webstore come April 16. More from OAMC and the Three Stripes is on the way later in 2020 as well: the Type O-6 is set to release this fall, and a Type O-5 may surface at some point too.
