Nike has revived its turn-of-the-century Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 for a second act as a casual silhouette. Joining the late ’90s-early-’00s revival spearheaded by other silhouettes like the Air Max Plus 3 and Air Max Tailwind V, the Spiridon Cage 2 has returned in bold “Saffron Quarz” and “Pistachio Frost” colorways, both of which are definitively geared towards lifestyle wear.

As a onetime high-speed running shoe, the Spiridon Cage 2 typically features a streamlined, loosely knit mesh upper. Here, however, it’s constructed in a more sturdy mix of supple suedes, perforated leather and tightly woven mesh, each panel of which is separated by swooping leather overlays. Of special note is the quarter, which sits above the rest of the shoe and proffers a sizable slanted silver Swoosh. Each style features a mostly monochromatic color scheme: the “Saffron Quartz” a rich yellow and the “Pistachio Frost” a crisp green.

Heels and tongues alike add silver Nike branded badges, and tabs on both provide an easy on/easy off fit. The shoe’s nom de guerre is drawn from its heel cushioning unit, a thickly stacked slab of Zoom Air contained by a minimal volt-colored plastic cage. The forefoot uses thin white Phylyte foam to complete the look.

The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon 2 Cage “Saffron Quartz and “Pistachio Frost” will both release at retailers like Noir Fonce in the coming weeks, and are priced at $140 USD.
