Jordan Brand has announced an official release date for the Air Jordan 5 “Alternate Grape.” Also known as the “Purple Grape,” this richly-colored iteration of Michael Jordan‘s fifth signature sneaker was one of several releases postponed by the effects of the COVID-19 coronavirus, but now it’s set to hit shelves just in time for the peak of summer.
Uppers are made entirely of rich purple suede, using the “Grape” accent color as a primary tone. Matte black is present under the signature midfoot netting, and more black details grace the eyestays, laces and collar trim. More netting appears on the throat, and the black hi-vis reflective tongue equips a bold aqua-colored Jumpman to contrast with the aqua lace toggle. Final dashes of branding appears via a black Jumpman on the heels and fabric tongue tags with spellout graphics. Midsoles are done up in black as well, with toothed, speckled teal detailing towards the forefoot and a clear Air Max cushioning unit in the heel. Icy blue outsoles round off the look in signature style.
Revisionist history in footwear form, the Air Jordan 5 “Alternate Grape” will release via Nike SNKRS
and Foot Locker
come July 7. The MSRP is set at $190 USD.
