A Bathing Ape, also known as BAPE, is a Japanese streetwear brand founded in 1993 by NIGO. It encompasses men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as a variety of accessories and lifestyle items. In 2011, it was announced that Hong Kong-based fashion conglomerate I.T Group purchased the brand for $2.8 million USD, and by 2013 NIGO had stepped down from the brand’s creative helm.
