MoMA Design Store announced some new additions inspired by the work of the acclaimed American artist, educator and activist, Faith Ringgold.
The new items include an exclusive skateboard diptych with a reproduction of Rinngold’s 1971 artwork, Woman Freedom Now, where the New York-based artist chose the colors red, black and green to represent the Pan-African flag, while using the numbers ‘6/71’ to indicate the date in which it was created (June 1971). The posters were originally made to be distributed at public meetings and displayed at spontaneous protests during the early 1970s.
