About this exhibition

London’s the Barbican has announced plans for an exhibition focusing on the work of Isamu Noguchi, the first European touring retrospective of his work for 20 years. The exhibition — titled simply “Noguchi” — will showcase Noguchi’s wide-ranging career, that spanned six decades and covered sculpture, architecture, dance and design.

The 150 works in “Noguchi” are drawn from public and private collections as well as the Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum in New York. Stand-outs include a selection of sculptures, along with theater set designs, architectural models and examples of Noguchi’s lighting and furniture design. Additionally, archive material will offer insights in Noguchi’s young life, as the son of a Japanese father and American mother, and his time travelling across the world.

Noguchi at the Barbican is due to open on September 30, 2021, and will run until January 9, 2022. For more information, visit the Barbican’s website.
