The First Monday in May is arguably one of the biggest days in fashion — and though the Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s scheduled Costume Institute Gala was postponed due to the pandemic this year, Vogue took advantage of the fashion holiday to announce the 2021 Met Gala co-chairs: Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, inaugural poet Amanda Gorman and tennis player Naomi Osaka.

The star-studded Gen-Z troupe will serve alongside honorary chairs Tom Ford, Anna Wintour, and Instagram‘s Adam Mosseri in presenting the celebratory gala for the Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary exhibition, which the museum announced last month would be the first of two America-centric fashion curations to arrive. Billie Eilish will make history as the event’s youngest co-chair to date.

The museum shared that there would be two corresponding galas — the first on September 13, 2021 and the second on May 2, 2022 — to celebrate each exhibition, though they will be “more intimate” than past versions. The September 2021 event will adhere to government COVID-19 restrictions, but the event’s organizers are hoping that the 2022 Met Gala will be able to host a larger group of guests, closer to the exclusive night’s typical 550-person headcount.

The first thematic exhibition, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” is set to open on September 18 and will “explore a modern vocabulary of American fashion,” according to the museum. Part two, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” will live in The Met’s American Wing period rooms on May 5, 2022 and showcase American style by “presenting narratives that relate to the complex and layered histories of those spaces.” Both exhibitions will end on September 5, 2022.

As fashion’s biggest night grows closer, take a look at co-chair Billie Eilish’s latest “Your Power” music video, where she gets dangerously close with an anaconda.
