The Queens Museum in New York City just launched an open call for its upcoming residency program titled “Year of Uncertainty” (YoU). The forthcoming initiative aims to create new strategies for connecting the museum with the community and its constituents. Artists in the program will create bodies of work that focus on a number of themes including “Care,” “Repair,” “Play,” “Justice,” and “The Future.”

For the program, the museum will offer a $10,000 USD budget to create work presented in exhibitions or public-facing projects within the institution’s programming. The museum will also provide rent-free studios ranging from 300 to 550 square feet and on-site production resources such as a woodshop and audiovisual studio in the span of 18 months starting February 2021 through August 2022.

“Residents accepted into this program will be provided with free studio space, a stipend to make and support the production of work and will engage with the Queens Museum’s programmatic initiatives to research and produce virtual or in-person programs across strands of the Museum’s work including: Education, Interpretation, Public Programs, Community Engagement, Exhibitions, Books and Publications, Archives and Collections, Communications, Digital Content, and Visitor Services,” said the museum in a statement.

Applications are currently being accepted at this link until December 21, 2020. For more information about qualifications, visit the Queens Museum’s official website.
