Prada and adidas' A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 Will Make You Want To Take up Sailing
The sustainable silhouette is made from high-performing recycled PRIMEGREEN, a hydrophobic E-TPU outer shell, and even sports BOOST.
After recently being spotted on the feet of Sean Wotherspoon, Prada and adidas are back with their next collaborative sneaker: the A+P LUNA ROSSA 21. The entirely-new silhouette draws inspiration from the AC75 Luna Rossa boat as well as iconic Prada and adidas sneakers from the past, delivering a sustainable and environmentally-conscious sneaker indebted to sailing and sporting heritage.
Whereas with its last collaboration Prada added its knowledge to the adidas Originals Superstar, the A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 sees the Three Stripes bring its forward-thinking expertise to a shoe that — from first glance — is decidedly more Prada in terms of its design.
However, the shoe features plenty of adidas’ qualities in its design. For example, the upper is made from a series of high-performance recycled materials called PRIMEGREEN, while a hydrophobic E-TPU outer shell has been implemented, acting as a flexible, breathable, and durable shield against the penetration of water. An ergonomically-considered EVA tongue and suede interior saddle further accentuate its sailing inspiration, while a perforated BOOST midsole alongside the wraparound outsole provides the lightweight and flexible benefits of adidas’ signature technology.
As expected, no detail has been spared in the design of this sneaker. Its laces are narrower at the bottom to help with speed lacing, while they’re wider at the top to help prevent tied knots from coming loose, and even the shoe box has been specifically designed to be narrow and practical so that it can slip inside a water-resistant pouch.
Altogether, the Prada x adidas A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 is a sleek and lightweight sneaker that complements the flexibility of one’s barefoot. Inspired by sailing and, subsequently, Prada’s Luna Rossa line, the pair is finished in a white colorway with minimal branding — Three Stripes subtlely appear on the mid-panel, while a flash of red can be seen on the heel displaying Prada’s branding alongside an adidas logo on the rear collar. Lastly, Prada branding can be founded embossed into the lateral-side midsole.
