AFEW Celebrates Air Jordan 4 "Fire Red" Launch By Recreating Michael Jordan's 2003 Gatorade Commercial
Everything from the slam dunks to the trash talk is spot on.
Jordan Brand is slated to reissue one of its most anticipated retro releases of 2020 on Black Friday: the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red”. In support of the launch, German retailer AFEW is celebrating its glorious return to the shelves by playfully honoring Michael Jordan via a comical recreation of his famous Young MJ vs. Old MJ Gatorade commercial that originally aired back in 2003.
In the video seen above, one of Germany’s high-flying dunkers Brian Butler plays 1-on-1 with an elder version of himself dressed in Uncle Drew-esque fashion. On the co-branded, dimly-lit hardwood, the “two” players show off slam dunks and mid-range jumpers, each respectively rocking the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” and Jumpman-branded crew socks on-foot. Furthermore, both parties accurately quote the now 17 year-old commercial by exchanging bits of banter that can be recognized through the trash talk phrases such as “You reach? I teach.” and “How you like that rainbow?”.
For parties interested in picking up a pair of this legendary colorway, you can find them launching globally come on November 28th for a retail price of $200 USD on Nike SNKRS and through select retailers like AFEW.
Elsewhere within the space of footwear, official images of the Nike Air Max 1 “Lemonade” have surfaced ahead of its November 25th drop.
