NANZUKA is presenting works by London-based artist James Jarvis at its NANZUKA 2G space in Shibuya Parco. Titled “Transcendental Idealism,” the solo exhibition includes a variety of illustrations and sculptures that depict Jarvis’ characters in different lights. Although simple in nature, they present eloquent, comical and ironic reflections of society.

The exhibition includes two-dimensional works that were created using colored acrylic board. One piece portrays a “mosh pit” of bodies as seen at a live performance of a punk band, while several collage works merge figuration with abstract elements. Elsewhere, a series of all-white sculptures show a skateboarder successively illustrating their technique. The exhibition is a joint project with PARCO ART WEEK, and will be held alongside a concurrent presentation of the artist’s works in 3110NZ by LDH Kitchen in Nakameguro.

Check out a few of the works in the slideshow above. “Transcendental Idealism” will run from September 18 to October 18.

In other art-related news, RAE BK has launched an unsanctioned street art exhibition titled “Community Spread” in New York City.
