UPDATE (July 10, 2020): Jonah Hill has taken to Instagram to announce that he’ll donate 100% of the personal royalties from his adidas Superstar collaboration to Black Lives Matter. Apart from this charitable gift, Hill also mentioned in the post that he will be partnering with charitable organization S.E.E.D on a “storytelling mentorship for women from marginalized communities.” This continues Hill and adidas’s recent charitable ventures: earlier in the year, Hill mentored aspiring filmmakers at adidas’s “World’s Best Career Day” during NBA-All Star Weekend.

The Jonah Hill x adidas Superstar is slated to release on the adidas webstore July 11, and retails for $140 USD. For more info on the shoe, see the original story below.

ORIGINAL STORY (July 8, 2020): href=”https://hypebeast.com/tags/jonah-hill”>Jonah Hill‘s long-awaited adidas Originals Superstar collaboration is finally releasing this weekend. The multi-hyphenate’s link-up with the Three Stripes was officially announced in January of this year, noting that the duo will be working on two Samba sneakers and one Superstar.

The adidas Originals Superstar in question channels a chunky skateboarding aesthetic, tapping into Hill’s love for the culture. In speaking about his inspiration, Hill said, “I started thinking back to all the experiences I had growing up while wearing [Superstars], and tried to make my fantasy version of what I would have wanted when I first wore them.” Hill, who wrote and directed the coming-of-age skate culture film Mid-90s, opts for a bold and pronounced Three Stripes on the mid-panels and thick laces — which have a heritage in the B-Boy scene of the ’80s as well as in skate culture.

The sneaker is constructed with a white full-grain leather upper, resting atop an off -white rubber sole unit. Additional details include “JH” and “Superstar” stitching in Jonah’s handwriting, and a lion embroidered on the back of the tongue, an ode to one of his tattoos.

The Jonah Hill x adidas Originals Superstar will release on July 11 at adidas.com/jonah_hill and retailers all around the world. The pair will cost $140 USD.
