Westside Gunn Shares New Trailer for Griselda's First Feature Film, 'Conflicted'
Starring and Executive Produced by Benny The Butcher.
Back in January, Westside Gunn teased a preview for the first feature length movie from his Griselda Films imprint, sharing the trailer for Conflicted starring and executive produced by Benny The Butcher. Today we get a more in-depth look at the storyline, where Benny is joined by co-stars J Holiday, Adiyon Dashalon and Michael Rapaport with direction from AK.Reed.
Westside hopes to follow in the footsteps of other cult-classics like Cam’Ron’s Killa Season, Roc-A-Fella’s State Property, Cash Money’s Baller Blockin, and even references Master P’s I Got The Hook-Up in his latest Instagram caption.
“I’ve literally watched this movie everyday since it’s completion. The story, the acting, the shots everything is A1, I promise u you will watch this 50 times like any other classic in the streets. I’m so happy and proud of everybody who participated in the making of this film. When this drop everything changing. What Griselda did for music will be the same way for film. It’s all about the art… Welcome to Buffalo.”
In an interview with HYPEBEAST back in April, Westside talked about his love of cinema and who he would have direct his life story. “Sh*t, me. (Laughs). I was there. Nobody knows the story more than Westside Gunn. Of course I could easily say Hype Williams because he hasn’t done one since Belly. We could do some sh*t like Belly in 2022 or 2023. I love how Hype did that one, I love how Dame Dash did Paid In Full — that’s one of my top five movies because that story was so incredibly shot. Especially being from the streets and knowing the story. I’m not gonna say no Scorsese or some sh*t like that. The reason I say me is because I have the confidence. I feel like I’ll be able to capture Griselda like how Dame and Hype captured their’s.”
