Heron Preston FW20 Injects Delicate Sensibilities Into Sturdy Workwear
The co-ed presentation also introduced a CAT collaboration.
Though Heron Preston has dabbled in tailoring, Fall/Winter 2020 — dubbed “IT’S ALL GOOD, IT’S ALL FUCKED” — sees the creative director going back to his roots with an array of workwear-indebted garments. Revamped militaria, functional staples and graphic garments ready for street styling all took the runway, shaped to neatly fit Preston’s design ethos.
Plenty of feminine-leaning items appear on the runway, like cropped bomber jackets and glistening work set-ups, juxtaposed against rugged staples like insulating vests and baggy carpenter jeans. Plenty of genderless items undermine the typical masculinity of workwear, with short knit hoodies, cargo-pocketed blazers, matte leather trucker jackets and baggy shirts making for versatile styling. Hefty leather shoes and sneakers anchor the looks, granted another layer of utilitarian appeal with Preston’s branded bags, keychains and belts.
FW20 also sees Preston debut his collaboration with heritage workwear label CAT, which previously dipped into fashion by way of Christopher Shannon and John Elliott partnerships. Preston’s joint effort yields weather-resistant jackets and pants, all executed in faded black tones for extra versatility. Printed caps and the aforementioned footwear complete the range.
