Kanye West Joins His Father for a Ride Around His Wyoming Ranch for "Follow God" Video
The first ‘Jesus Is King’ song to receive a standalone visual.
Earlier this week, Kim Kardashian teased the first standalone music video for Kanye West‘s latest studio album, Jesus Is King. Specifically, she took to social media to unveil a snippet of the “Follow God” shoot, introducing a clip that centered around footage of Kanye West and his father, Ray West, riding around a Wyoming ranch in an ATV. Now, directly following that teaser’s debut, Kanye West is releasing the music video for “Follow God” in its entirety. As previously revealed, the “Follow God” visual follows Kanye and his dad as they take a ride around Ye’s Wyoming property.
“My dad came to visit me at one of our ranches in Cody, Wyoming. He talked about his love for fishing, and how he would like to come here in the summers,” reads a statement Kanye West posted to the end of his “Follow God” vignette and shared via Twitter. “It took me 42 years to realize that my dad was my best friend. He asked me, ‘How many acres is this?’ I told him 4000. He replied with these three words: ‘A black man?’”
“Now I’m letting you know what Jesus has done for me,” Kanye West shared with Zane Lowe prior to the arrival of his latest LP, opening up about Jesus Is King’s themes and narrative for an exclusive Beats 1 interview. “I’m no longer a slave. I’m a son, now, a son of God. I’m thinking of something I wanna say out loud—Christian innovator. When you’re thinking about the church—because it has to stand on the word so hard—it loves to be extra traditional to the point of blocking innovation.”
