Dave East has dropped off his debut studio album Survival, out via Def Jam Recordings/Mass Appeal Records. Clocking in at approximately and hour and 20 minutes, the Harlem-born rapper enlists an impressive amount of features from Gang Starr’s DJ Premier on the opener “They Wanna Kill You,” Nas on “Godfather 4,” Rick Ross and The-Dream on “OG,” Mozzy and E-40 on “Devil Eyes” and Ty Dolla $ign on the bonus track, “On Sight.”

With an extensive catalog of three EPs and 14 mixtapes, East has taken his time to practice and perfect a sound he identifies with. His works have always been a reflection on what he’s going through at the moment, and Survival takes on his new life as a major label artist. “And then Survival — that’s what I’ve been doing this entire time. I’m surviving now, I’m still trying to figure it out,” he explained in a recent interview. “I’m trying to broaden my horizons, get into things that people don’t know me for. I feel like “survival” was the one word that could tie all of that together.”

Elsewhere in music, Kanye and Ray West are set to appear in the “Follow God” music video.
