The Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition Debuts at the New York Auto Show
Bringing back the iconic “Bayside Blue.”
Nissan‘s legendary GT-R is turning 50, and to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the automobile manufacturer produced a special edition of the sports car, which just debuted at the New York International Auto Show.
The 2020 50th Anniversary Edition will be available in three colors: “Pearl White” with red stripes, “Super Silver” with white stripes, and the iconic “Bayside Blue” which has not been available since the GT-R34, the paint jobs feature a four-coat double-heat treatment. All three models will have a grey interior, with an array of anniversary badging, a special steering wheel and shifter, beautifully embossed seats, and an Alcantara headliner and visors.
Performance-wise, the GT-R retains its 3.8L handcrafted V6 engine, producing 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque. The 50th Anniversary Edition features new turbochargers which improve low rpm response while sharpening overall response, and increases efficiency by 5%. The exhaust is upgraded to titanium with other improvements to the transmission, electronically controlled suspension system and steering. Brakes are also improved by new boosters.
There are no details yet as to how many units will be made of the 50th Anniversary Edition GT-R, so enthusiasts should stay tuned for updates and act fast when they come out.
