Ben Porto, Daniel Arsham, and Alex Mustonen of Snarkitecture are opening the doors to their long-anticipated Snark Park establishment in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards neighborhood this Friday.

The permanent space is comprised of two parts. The first section is a storefront that offers the collaborative KITH treats “Snark Bite” ice cream alongside branded apparel spanning T-shirts, hoodies, caps, and plush dolls of Snark Park’s beloved Snarky mascot. At the back section, a sizable gallery room plays host to immersive installations (a total of three per year) with the inaugural experience entitled LOST AND FOUND. “We are thrilled to bring Snark Park to New York and to become a permanent fixture in the city’s robust cultural landscape,” said Snarkitecture partner Daniel Arsham. “At Hudson Yards, Snark Park will reveal an entirely new and unexpected experience that marries museum-quality installations with an exclusive retail component.”

Before entering the venue, visitors to Snark Park will be welcomed by a sprawling facade. “A wall of giant claw machines, like those found at an amusement park or arcade, will perform a dramatic ballet, complimenting the flips and turns of a monumental rotating Snark Park sign that lives on the opposite side of the entryway,” as per a statement by Snark Park.

As visitors make their way inside the immersive LOST AND FOUND installation, they will encounter rows of white totems with unique built-in experiences. Altogether, Snarkitecture adopts its signature monochromatic landscape for the installation that constantly challenges viewers to shift their perspective of reality when interacting with the artwork. “A series of totems will line the space, many of them inhabitable and built with custom materials that pull from Snarkitecture’s material archive –EPS foam, mirror tile, acoustic paneling, cork, latex, ping-pong balls, faux fur, among others –many of which reference the studio’s past projects,” said Snark Park.

Another experience inside the installation is hidden two-way mirrored room that offers another perspective of the installation and grants access to the claw machine that is observed in the establishment’s facade. Lastly, Snarkitecture teamed up with Polish electroacoustic musician Jacaszekon on exclusive sound for the installation. The design studio is looking to implement new music with each new installation.

Altogether, Snark Park is a timed-ticketed space. Each ticket purchased will coincide with specific times and dates. Attendees will have 45 minutes to explore the space depending on the timeframe mentioned on their respective tickets. Following each session, guests are encouraged to try the Snark Park flavor at KITH treats and peruse the collection of custom Snarkitecture merchandise. Head to Snark Park’s official website to purchase tickets.

In other NYC exhibitions, the Arsham/Fieg Gallery is currently presenting miniature graphite illustrations by Ryan Travis Christian.
