Banksy’s notorious Love is in the Bin painting will see its first museum show in Germany. The private owner of the artwork is loaning the piece to the Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden where it will go on display for one month. The notorious artwork made headlines last October during a Sotheby’s auction in London where it shredded itself after a record-setting bid of $1.4 million USD.

“We are expecting great interest from the public, especially young people and Banksy fans,” said museum founder Henning Schaper to Artnet. “At the same time, we have to resist the temptation to display the picture like a trophy. That would definitely not be what the artist had in mind. Instead, we are trying to adhere to his approach of consistently democratizing art and we are currently discussing how to make the picture accessible to as many people as possible.”

Love is in the Bin will be open to the public from February 5 until March 3. Head over to Museum Frieder Burda’s website to learn more. Elsewhere in art, check out the New York Academy’s upcoming exhibition that will feature rare Andy Warhol drawings.
