Blue Bottle Coffee Opens First Cafe in Kobe
Utilizing a Western-style aesthetic.
Designed by Schemata Architects, American coffee brand Blue Bottle Coffee has opened its first location in Kobe, Japan. The space is located in a former foreign settlement from the late 1800s where many Western-style buildings were built that are still up today.
The Daimaru Department Store sits at the entrance of the settlement and is designed to fit alongside the locations Western aesthetic. Blue Bottle Cafe sits between high-end fashion brands located above and below it, allowing for high-ceilings and roomy store space, allowing them to utilize an island-style structure where employee functions are concentrated. It uses a brilliantly brass material for the harness and finishes it with a simple gloss to match the wooden chairs, tables, and other structures.
