With the 2026 FIFA World Cup right around the corner, football-inspired fashion is continuing its absolute takeover of the sneaker space. Jumping firmly into the mix is Los Angeles-based label Kids of Immigrants, who have teamed up with Nike to resurrect a pitch icon in an entirely new format. Teased by co-founder Daniel Buezo and recently spotted in exclusive seeding packs, the Kids of Immigrants x Nike T90 Mule completely transforms the legendary Total 90 boot into a premium, laceless slip-on designed entirely for the streets.
After a quiet 2025, Kids of Immigrants is returning to the footwear spotlight with a design that feels both nostalgic and aggressively modern. Moving beyond the standard retro treatment, this collaboration completely builds out the classic Total 90 mule styles seen in the 2000s, turning the aggressive on-pitch silhouette into a relaxed, heavily layered lifestyle shoe.
The project is debuting with two distinct, earth-toned colorways. The first pair features a base of khaki suede covering the collar and signature asymmetrical tongue flap, contrasted beautifully by olive leather side panels. “University Gold” and “Fusion Red” Swooshes provide a vibrant pop of color, while a “Light Mulberry” liner and a mesh tongue complete the upper.
A second “Velvet Brown” iteration offers a darker, equally layered aesthetic, utilizing accents of “Orange Horizon,” “Fusion Red,” and “Anthracite.” To give both pairs a deeply collaborative feel, Kids of Immigrants included premium cork insoles stamped with the brand’s logo. In a nod to global travel and the upcoming World Cup, early seeding pairs even arrived with a custom collaborative passport accessory.
By blending early-2000s football nostalgia with the modern appetite for premium slip-on footwear, Kids of Immigrants and Nike have crafted a perfect summer shoe. Whether you’re a die-hard soccer fan or just love a comfortable, heavily detailed mule, this release is shaping up to be a major highlight of the season.
