In an unprecedented move for the Korean music industry, HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment have joined forces to launch a global K-pop festival. Operating in partnership with the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange, the “Big Four” agencies are officially preparing a joint venture to anchor the large-scale live event, currently titled “FANOMENON.”
Spearheaded by JYP Entertainment founder and chief producer J.Y. Park, the “FANOMENON” concept merges the words “fan” and “phenomenon.” Designed to rival major international events like Coachella, the initiative aims to unite the agencies’ heavy-hitting artist rosters under a single global umbrella. The companies have already initiated the necessary legal and administrative procedures, including filing a business combination report with the Korea Fair Trade Commission.
While the project remains in the early review stages, an initial timeline has been mapped out. The collaborative festival is targeted to debut in South Korea in December 2027. Following the inaugural domestic event, the joint venture plans to expand the festival into a global touring model, bringing the spectacle to major international cities starting in May 2028. Specific operational frameworks and governance structures are currently being finalized.
