Kim Kardashian is officially expanding her entrepreneurial footprint with her Broadway producing debut for The Fear of 13. The reality television star and criminal justice reform advocate has joined the producing team of Lindsey Ferrentino’s new play, taking on a co-producer role alongside Seaview, Wessex Grove, and Gavin Kalin Productions.
Directed by David Cromer, the production features two-time Academy Award winner Adrien Brody (making his Broadway debut) and Golden Globe nominee Tessa Thompson. The story focuses on Nick Yarris (Brody), a real-life figure who spent 22 years on death row who receives visits from a volunteer named Jackie (Thompson).
“My commitment to criminal justice reform has always been about more than just policy – it’s about people,” Kardashian said in a statement via Deadline. “I’ve learned that sometimes the most effective way to change minds is through a powerful story. The Fear of 13 is that story. It’s a raw, honest look at Nick Yarris’s wrongful conviction and the systemic failures that kept him behind bars for twenty years. I couldn’t be prouder to make my Broadway producing debut with a project that carries such vital weight.”
The Fear of 13 is currently in previews and officially opens April 15 at Broadway’s James Earl Jones Theatre.
