Virgil Abloh Archive & Fragment Drop Exclusive Merch at V.A. Tokyo
The V.A.A.’s World’s Fair stop in Tokyo aligns with a new graphic collection supported by Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment.
Summary
- Virgil Abloh Archive is collaborating with Fragment and V.A. Tokyo on a limited apparel capsule featuring industrial graphics and iconic footwear motifs.
- The collection launches March 28, alongside the release of a new Air Jordan 1 collaboration and the archive’s first printed publication.
As part of Virgil Abloh Archive‘s (VAA) World’s Fair stop in Tokyo, the late designer’s archival project has partnered with Hiroshi Fujiwara‘s Fragment and Japanese retailer V.A. Tokyo for an exclusive capsule.
Combining the VAA and Fragment’s graphic identities in industrial-style typography and imagery, the capsule features seven distinct styles to choose from. Leading the collection is the Archive! T-shirt, featuring a bricolage of icons with the Air Jordan 1 “Alaska” front and center. On the back side, each stop in the World’s Fair is listed in the style of a world tour graphic.
Other styles lean into Virgil Abloh’s minimalist tendencies, including a navy tee with off-center industrial graphics on the front, and a black tee with the VAA emblem on the breast. Another t-shirt is emblazoned with a short Alboh-ism reading “modernism isn’t new” in sans serif. Finally, a pale blue tee is printed with cyan and orange graphics at the center, and a zip-up hoodie reprises similar graphics.
The release of the capsule, set for March 28, comes one day before the official drop of the Air Jordan 1 High OG x V.A.A., inspired by the original 2017 collab. The VAA unveiled the reimagined model alongside the release of its inaugural “The Virgil Reader Vol. 001,” its first print publication.
